As we head into a new decade with 2020 vision, let’s take a moment to look back at everything we accomplished in 2019.
It’s no surprise that Mudd-Ox’s have found their way into military applications. Working alongside HIPPO Multipower, our 8×8’s are extremely versatile in technical military solutions. We have fully manned, semi-manned and unmanned robotic machines being tested by governments around the world. Mudd-Ox can carry heavy equipment so the soldiers don’t have to. All while driving through areas which humans struggle to walk, whether it be a 60% grade or across bodies of water. The ATSV unit has been making a name for itself and we have high hopes for its future in military service.
One of our greatest achievements of this past year was the introduction of our electronically controlled steering wheel for XL and Fort Mac. This was no simple feat. Hundreds of hours were spent developing the program to provide easy, smooth controls in both high and low range. The prototype machine was tested in nearly every terrain possible: steep hills, water, snow, gravel, pavement, grass, swamp, and mud. It’s perfect for use in rental fleets as the steering wheel setup is extremely similar to a traditional automobile, which makes training new drivers that much easier.
As our beloved 45 hp Kubota turbo diesel engine was put on the chopping block due to EPA regulations, we took the opportunity to bring XL into a new realm of power: The 57 hp Kubota gasoline engine. It’s higher horsepower and better for the environment. Vengeance also received two new engine options: The 25 hp Kubota and 31 hp Kawasaki to provide customers with a variety of fuel and cooling types.
With the new Kubota engine coming to XL, and customers ordering more options ever before, we improved upon the chassis wiring harness to make accessory installation even easier. All fuses and relays are centrally located on the left side engine compartment. We have built-in blank fuses and relays that may be quickly adapted to accessories that require power. Owners may use the blanks for their own additions to the vehicle.
Our claim to fame is the ability to build custom Mudd-Ox’s for customers. In fact, most of our official accessories started out life as a custom option. The Bearing Grease Zerk Convenience Relocation Kit is just one of these special items. A customer was in need of simple, easy to reach grease zerks for servicing their Mudd-Ox. After building a custom set, we have decided to make it available to everyone. Since adding it to our accessory list, nearly every Mudd-Ox Vengeance/XL has left the assembly line with this favorite item installed. At the moment we are developing more accessories and testing some upgrades over current ones. Stay tuned.
That’s right – you can buy now and pay over time! Obtaining financing for all new Mudd-Ox vehicles is a proud achievement for 2019. Rather than sending customers to their local banks to explain what an amphibious ATV is, we can directly fill out credit applications and create payment plans without hassle. This is a big thanks to Synchrony Bank who has been eager to help, and easy to work with. We are now able to place customers into their dream Mudd-Ox with affordable payment plans.
A total overhaul of the website has been in progress and will continue into 2020. Nearly every single section has been filled with fresh content, from the models pages to accessories. One of the most frequently asked questions over the phone is, “Do you have a picture of a [color] Mudd-Ox with [X] and [X] accessory?” In 2019 and years going forward, our goal is to capture vehicles outfitted with unique accessory combinations. Whether it be a green Mudd-Ox with Tracks – Chevron and a Safari Rack or a red one with Brush Guard and Cab – Canvas, we plan to document these very specific builds. Simply go to the accessories section, and scroll through each specific gallery to see just how tall your future Mudd-Ox stands. We are continuing to add more sections to the website in 2020.
This year we have created a new YouTube channel to upload videos. Here you will find Mudd-Ox’s doing what they do best – everything from trekking through the swamp to plowing snow. Even some footage of the military ATSV unit has made its way onto the channel. In December, we had a new customer request: film their Mudd-Ox driving off the assembly line. And we did just that! It’s a specialized machine with lights, sirens, and spare tire carrier.
For weekly updates on everything Mudd-Ox, keep an eye on our new Instagram account and established Facebook page. Here we post pictures, videos, vintage ATV information and share posts created by our customers. This is a great way to stay connected with us on popular media platforms – and might see your very own Mudd-Ox being showcased!
