Ordering a Custom Color
Forming Process
Mudd-Ox bodies are created through the process of vacuum forming. A sheet of plastic is heated inside a large oven. Once it reaches a specific temperature, the plastic is removed from the oven and quickly placed on the Mudd-Ox mold. Vacuum pressure pulls the heated plastic around every corner and crevice of the mold. After the plastic cools, it is lifted off the mold. The final step is shipment to our factory where each body is trimmed depending on the model and accessories.
Production Run
The plastic sheets used to make Mudd-Ox bodies, of course, is big. We order large quantities of plastic for our standard colors: Ox Black, Ox Green and Ox Red. During the forming process, many bodies are produced in a row as the oven is hot, the mold is ready, and forming experts are on staff. This keeps the individual cost of bodies down for both us and our customers.
Custom Colors
To build a custom color Mudd-Ox, we must stock a minimum quantity of plastic. This is ideal for customers who wish to purchase a fleet of Mudd-Ox’s. Of course, price varies on multiple factors. The cost of the actual color, quantity of machines ordered, and which plastic pieces the customer wishes to customize. Upper body, lower body, skid plate and engine cover are all available for customization. Typical variations are coloring all parts in unison, or only the upper body with engine cover while the lower body and skid plate are Ox Black. The latter is how all standard production machines are.
Color Matching
One of the greatest features of plastic bodies is the ability to form any color imaginable. We have the ability to color match, or provide a range of color shades for customers to pick out their favorite. The completely orange Mudd-Ox below is one of our favorites. This customer was prominent in tractor pulling, and wished to use his Mudd-Ox to pull the tractor to the starting line. We matched the orange from his tractor and the semi that pulls it across the country.
Did you know one of the very first Vengeance ever produced was a custom yellow? It too was a color match.
