With the craze of overlanding sweeping across the world, Mudd-Ox’s are being ordered to specifications that allow comfortable, long distance travel in remote areas. Passenger compartments are vital for carrying people and abundant amounts of equipment. Our safari racks are designed to move spacious cargo over the top of the vehicle, allowing more room inside the machine itself.
Full vs Half Length
Have you ever tried to order multiple accessories on a vehicle and receive an error code? “You must remove X item to install X accessory.” We don’t particular enjoy that. Safari racks are not a one-size-fits-all. Rather, the first customization is overall length. Full length extends across the entire Mudd-Ox. These are great for those who want as much space as possible.
For the person who wants to keep the overall height of their machine shorter, while for example using a Cab – Aluminum with A/C unit on top, order the half length.
A second piece of customization is the mounting style of the safari rack itself. Rub rail mount safari racks have individual legs that bolt directly to the Mudd-Ox body. These are wonderful for those who need to raise the racks over other accessories, such as our cabs. Yes, we can build them to clear both the Cab – Canvas and Cab – Aluminum. Just contact us to special order.
Another option, the roll bar mount, requires the use of our Twin Roll Bar. With both a middle and rear bar, the safari rack can bolt directly onto the top. No legs are necessary.
Although sold as a separate accessory, we offer light bars that range from 10″ to 50″ long. Light bars can be mounted on top or below the safari rack. No matter front, left side, right side or rear – it’s all possible
Choosing Your Safari Rack
Before ordering a safari rack, we recommend looking at all the accessories your Mudd-Ox will be equipped with. Select the length, style and custom ordered height (if applicable with rub rail mount) that’s required to work alongside other items. The safari rack can be removed with just a handful of bolts – allowing you to set it aside when not in use. Check out the gallery below to see the various safari rack configurations.
